Una Quantum Inc – APS was created in 2014 by 4 archaeologists who were looking for Open Source solutions for managing excavation data; since such solutions did not exist, they created them directly. PyArchInit was Una Quantum's very first project.

​Our association now has dozens of affiliates throughout Italy and Europe and aims to encourage the development and dissemination of software and hardware for the management and enhancement of Cultural Heritage.

In order to achieve our goals, we work with users communities and software developers who deal with Cultural Heritage. We support the exchange of ideas and formats between public and private entities dealing with Cultural Heritage. We promote relationships with other national and international associations and with public and private companies, aimed at implementing initiatives in harmony with our purposes.

​For these purposes and for self-financing, since March 2015 a School of Open Source applications and programs for Cultural Heritage has been established starting from the teachings of Luca Mandolesi at Ad Arte snc. of Rimini. Today our courses are mostly online.
